08 Feb Common App Prompts 2019 Released

Finally, the essay prompts for the 2019-2020 reiteration of the Common Application are out! It’s still early days yet, but now is the time for high school Juniors / Lower 6ers (those in their second to last year of high school) to start preparing by brainstorming. Think carefully– what do you want to use these mere 650 words to tell the admissions officer who has the power to admit you to your top choice school? Think about the experiences that have changed you and sparked growth.

650 words seems like a lot until you consider that this is the only space that you will have in your application to speak directly, in your own voice, to the admissions officers who make the decisions. In the application, the admissions officers will hear about you from your teachers and get a sense of who you are through your extracurriculars, but this essay is the only space that you have to speak for yourself, so it is extremely important to be strategic in deciding how you will make the most of this opportunity to tell your story!
